Cameroon is one of the richest countries in sub-Sahara Africa with a strong agricultural base and a modest energy production. Situated in Central Africa, at juncture of the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean, the country is often referred to as “Africa in miniature” for its geological and cultural diversity. Cameroon has over 22 million inhabitants and the official languages are French and English.

The government of Cameroon seeks to attract foreign investment and promote the private sector and make it the engine of economic growth and employment.  Cameroon’s economic growth rates are estimated at 4.4% by 2012 (compared to 4.2% in 2011). Cameroon offers great opportunities in the following sectors: Agriculture, infrastructure, construction, transport & port development, energy, oil & gas, mining, consumer goods, telecommunications (IT) and tourism.

Cameroon can be seen as an emerging country and it is known to be a transit zone, due to its geographic position, which gives it a comparative advantage in the sub-region.
